Rest
Every living thing, plant or animal, does three things: eats, sleeps, and gets rid of waste. Even though it’s a basic necessity, people find all kinds of excuses to fill their time and not allow themselves to rest. You must have down time. While there are some projects that are relaxing and refreshing, others need to be shut off completely so you can have that peaceful time of rest – simply by stopping.
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
It’s important that rest is a part of your life. There is a balance between you, God, and rest. When you’re still and quiet, then you can better communicate with God. Take time to be quiet. Take time to be quiet with Him.
“Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28
Romans 15:32 “So that I may come to you in joy by the will of God and find refreshing rest in your company.”
Having rest doesn’t always mean being alone. There are times when having communion with one another is restorative. Spend time with people who revive you. Spend time each week and each day doing those things that will allow you to rest and recharge.
