As Americans you hold all you have today because someone made a payment for it, even if you weren’t the ones who made that initial payment. Over 230 years ago, a group of people made a huge sacrifice and fought so the 13 Colonies could give birth to the United States. If you forget someone made the payment, you’ll forget its importance. Keep reminding yourself and your families about the payment made so you could have and enjoy this country and everything you hold dear today.

This applies to the ultimate price that was paid as well. “For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 6:23.

On this long holiday weekend, think about what simple, practical steps you can take to work on succeeding in your achievements that glorify God. Look around and see how you have benefited from the efforts of others – your family, your country, your God – have made the payment. See them for the sacrifice and the gift they actually are.
