It’s not about you
It’s not about you…it’s about everyone else around you, and what they will think about God by watching what you do…how you act.
People are watching you. Especially the non-believer and they are waiting for you to give them an excuse not to believe in God.
1 Corinthians 10:33
just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may be saved.
It is not about what you say, it is what you do that speaks volumes…
Imagine you are a manager of a company who is looking to hire and you receive a resume that boasts about the applicant’s keen eye. It goes on to state how they are gifted with acute attention to detail.
Unfortunately, with the most cursory of perusals you see nothing but typos and grammatical errors. What would you believe more, what they wrote…or how they wrote it?
Scripture says you are ambassadors of Christ. You represent Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:20
20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
So, everything you do as a Christian reflects upon God.
I want this information to motivate you to be aware of others and to be courteous. Courtesy cannot fall by the wayside. Courtesy is defined by being respectful…considerate.
The word considerate is wonderful here as it is truly about considering others in life before you consider yourself.
Think about how many times a day you have an opportunity to put someone else first but how many time you put yourself first instead.
On the road, when driving…in the line at the grocery store…while at the movies…at a restaurant… make it about others and they will see God, in you.
