When enemies fall

Posted April 25, 2010

It has become popular in modern politics to simply rejoice when your opponent fails. This is unfortunate because the main goal should always be to perpetuate truth and justice and not just to dance on the grave of failure.

Be sure to not stumble into this in your day-to-day life as it becomes easy to want to be right, rather than correct. When it is simply about you being right…it is only about you. When it is about being correct it is about the truth.

I’ve heard people lie or use fancy rhetoric to win an argument but in a case like that, the truth is lost and everyone loses.
It must always be about truth winning out, not simply an enemy falling. It must be about the truth being raised, seen and understood.

Scripture warns against this in Proverbs 24:17
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, Or the LORD will see it and be displeased…”
