Faith, Hope and Charity
The wonderful celebration Christmas is next weekend and most of your shopping should be done (or maybe not).
Last week we talked about giving gifts to your loved ones, today I want you to consider giving a gift to those who you don’t know…those who are in need.
Scripture says those who give to the poor and weak are blessed.
Psalms 41:1-2
1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.
2 The LORD protects and preserves them—
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
You have heard us on the Jesus Christ show talk about a wonderful organization by the name of Three Angeles Children’s Relief, this very small but big-hearted group of people provide hope for Haiti’s impoverished children.
Half of Haiti’s population is made up of children and they are severely at-risk through no fault of their own.
Through quality orphan care, award winning education and essential medical relief they seek to interrupt the cycle of hopelessness and extreme poverty.
I love that our friends at Three Angels Children’s Relief use very practical and effective ways to accomplish their goals.
They don’t believe in handouts and pouring money into a broken system. They believe in changing the outcome and stories of children and their families by developing relationships.
Three Angels is a small, hands-on, community-based organization that has worked for 8 years to nurture those relationships that allow them to truly make a positive impact on kids in a way that is culturally relevant.
Almost two years ago a massive earthquake in Haiti destroyed many areas and certainly disrupted the wonderful work being done by Three Angels.
They’ve accomplished a lot, but there is so much more to be done.
This is where you come in.
Three Angels Children’s Relief has three specific goals for the end of the year: To REOPEN, REMOVE and REBUILD.
• reOPEN their Orphanage and Family Care Center
• reMOVE the old earthquake-damaged orphanage that is a horrible danger to those in the area
• reBUILD a classroom for the school kids
These 3 goals will allow Three Angels to expand their efforts that have proven successful over the last 8 years.
It takes effort, it takes money, it takes people getting involved in practical way.
In the spirit of Proverbs 14:21 that says:
“It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor,
but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.”
