Don’t invite the devil to dinner

Posted October 21, 2012
by Holy Host

The Mwamba children’s choir of Uganda Africa is planning its first tour to Los Angeles and they need your help.

If you are part of a church, school or organization that would enjoy hosting the choir, including a live band specializing in traditional and contemporary African sounds, then give them a call (805-380-5873) or visit their website at mwambachildrenschoir.com/latour/ .

These children have been orphaned or abandoned by their parents are and coming to America to perform their music and make lasting friendships.

This has become a bright spot in their lives and in the lives of those who have hosted them. The World has become small enough that we don’t have to travel beyond our own community to effectively help those in need outside of America. Please, consider hosting the choir and helping them achieve their dreams through musical expression.

To help, please call(805-380-5873) or visit their website at:mwambachildrenschoir.com/latour/

SHOW NOTES:

Life has its share of ups and downs no matter what you do. Flat tires, an unexpected plumbing problem at your house and even illness, just to name a few. You can’t “Nerf” or bubble wrap the world…it has sharp edges and at times bad or inconvenient things will happen to you.

But there is another classification of trials that can come your way…these are spiritual trials…attacks that strangely enough are often brought on by you when you invite the enemy in your life.

Although any Christian (or Christian family) can take on attacks from the enemy, the believer must remember that the knob to your spiritual door is on the inside and only opened by you. The devil can’t truly get in your life unless you “open the door” and give him the opportunity.

Ephesians 4:27
“and do not give the devil an opportunity.”

The enemy prowls around you looking for an opening even masquerading as an angel of light to try and fool you.

1 Peter 5:8
“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

2 Corinthians 11:14
“No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

So how does the faithful believer defend themselves from the enemy?
Scripture says to submit to God and resist the devil.

James 4:7
“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Also, the Bible instructs you to put on the armor of God for the ultimate protection from evil.

Ephesians 6:11
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” (Read on in chapter 6 to learn about the complete armor of God)

Finally, remember that although, the devil is called the “prince of this world”, when all is said and done God will be the victor.

Romans 16:20
“The God of peace will soon crush Satan your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”
