Life’s spiritual storms
Last week Superstorm Sandy ripped through the east coast leaving over one hundred dead and millions in the dark without basic needs like electricity, gas and water.
We here on the Jesus Christ show continue to send our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this intense storm.
You can find a link on our website: thejesuschristshow.com with ways to help those in need on the east coast.
When it comes to the real weather around you like Superstorm Sandy, everyone is affected…the just and the unjust alike. As it says in Matthew…
Matthew 5:44-45
44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Even a just person can be harmed in horrible weather on earth. But I want you to think about another kind of storm…a spiritual storm…one that like a physical storm can rip into your life causing extreme devastation…pulling you away from your very foundation.
Proverbs 10:25
New Living Translation (NLT)
25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away,
but the godly have a lasting foundation.
Why do the wicked whirl away? Because, the wicked are rooted only in the situation, only in the things around them. The godly should always be rooted in faith and God, regardless of the circumstances.
The wicked have a false sense of control thinking they can tame the storms in their lives, while the godly trust in God and in faith hand over all things to the creator Himself.
1 Peter 4:19
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
God will calm the storms in your life.
Mark 4:35-41
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
